Learning Support Strategies for Middle School

Structures for timely feedback:

  • Synchronous: Stay online after the lesson for Q&A; set up break-out rooms to provide more personalized feedback.
  • Asynchronous: Invite students to office hours.

Other Ideas:

  • Be flexible with timed synchronous tasks: allow students to start when ready and provide additional support to those who need it. As much as possible allow students to self-pace.
  • Encourage group study supports outside the main instructional setting
  • Understand that real-time chat sessions/lectures might need to be augmented or personalized in online and blended learning environments
  • When a student reaches out, respond as soon as possible and CC the Learning Support teacher to keep us in the loop and provide support as needed.
